Missionaries Helping Missionaries and Transfer Week

April 11, 2016

Germany is good this week. Yes, transfers are this week and they did affect me. I am getting a new companion and he will be the first companion that will be younger than me on the mission. His name is Elder Illum.  My companion, Elder Hunt will be going to Wilhelmshaven. This next transfer (starting April 13th) will be 7 weeks and the one after that will be 5 weeks. I am not sure why they will be like that but just so you can keep track of the next couple of transfer dates. I only have six transfers left too! That is still a while but I never realized how far I was on my mission until I thought of that yesterday.

I was able to listen to the whole conference this past week and it was really good I would say that Elder Kearon’s talk was probably my favorite and as a missionary in Europe right now I know what he was talking about.

This week we spent a few days with the elders in Stadthagen because one was really sick and they had appointments that they needed to go to and we decided to help them out seeing as we did not have appointments those days so one of us stayed with the sick companion and the other one went outside to work with the other elder. Then we had another companion exchange with the elders in Bielefeld on Friday and Saturday which was fun, I was in Bielefeld. While I was in Bielefeld, we taught a family and then played soccer the next day with Elder Adler who is one of the Seventy in Europe.

The branch president is probably the person who we spend the most time with in the ward but I get along with pretty much everyone in the ward fairly well which is good. There are 65 or so active members in the branch but not everyone is there every week so sometimes we only have 30 or so a church.

We have a few people that we are trying to meet with right now but for the most part we are just trying to find new investigators and get something better going. This week I met a family in another ward that is making pretty good progress and accepting the gospel pretty well and that was pretty cool to see someone that is trying to repent and come closer to Christ.

I enjoyed studying from Jesus the Christ a lot this week and have been reading it mostly in my spare time at the beginning and end of the day and I have read about 100 pages or so in the past week and a half I think.

Scripture of the week D&C 42: 22 :Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else.”  Wwe shared that as a spiritual thought with our newly married Branch President

T   his week was good, it kinda went by pretty fast though and we were really busy everyday so that was nice but not too much to write about. Love you and hope that you have a good week.

Love,

Elder Spencer Fisher

Staying in Bad Bentheim, New Companion, and Cars/Bikes

September 14, 2015

I am staying in the Bad Bentheim branch and my companion is leaving to go to the border near Poland (in eastern Germany). My new companion is transferring from Hamburg and was in the same arrival group as my trainer, Elder Gerlach. I am really excited to work with him.  It sounds like my new companion really wants to work and wants to be here so I am really glad.

You asked about a companion exchange: A companion exchange is when we work with another companion for 24 hours. It is fun and it gives us a chance to talk with other people and to work with someone else for a day.

Members do help with the lessons and we go with the members if we want them to--I think that the members in the ward are really good at helping us and actually doing missionary work. I wasn't able to really teach any discussion a this week but I was able to teach someone about eternal marriage. The Sunday School lesson is going to be something from the month of September and we are teaching it next week, I am going to discuss it with my next companion.

I think that the biggest thing I have been focusing on this past month is acting on impressions from the Holy Ghost and recognizing those promptings as well. I really tried focusing on the spirit a lot this past transfer and tried to just really focus on becoming a man of faith.

We use the car everyday but try to use our bikes when we work in our city. There are a lot of McDonalds and KFC in the west so we tend to eat there quite a bit.

It was great to hear about BYU winning their first 2 football games of the season --that is good for BYU but it is kinda weird to think that college football started and I didn't even notice.

Scripture for the week is Mormon 1:1 and the quote for the week is "some of those people are spare tires and some of them are flat tires"

Love you mom & dad and hope that you have a good week!! and that you can keep cool too!!

Love,

Elder Fisher
